Why neighbourhoods?
iN is a national alliance of housing associations working to create good neighbourhoods in cities, towns and villages across England.
Your neighbourhood has a huge impact on your quality of life. Everyone wants friendly neighbours, local shops, schools, healthcare, leisure facilities, job opportunities and good public transport. That's what it takes to create a place where you'd be happy to bring up children and grow old - somewhere you'd be proud to live and where you'd feel you belong.
Neighbourhood matters when life gets tough. And many people's lives are certainly getting tougher. Jobs have become much less secure. More than half of all marriages end in divorce. We're all living longer. As people move in and out of relationships and jobs they need access to different types of homes - smaller, larger, rented, owned, or sheltered. Neighbourhoods are becoming more and more important to people's lives.
Housing associations have been working for better neighbourhoods for years but many people don't know about what they do. That's why iN business for neighbourhoods was created.
