One women in four reports experiencing Domestic Violence at some time in
her life.
The Home Office have concluded that approximately every three
days one woman dies as a result of Domestic Violence.
Domestic Violence
includes all kinds of physical, sexual, emotional and financial abuse between
people who are or have been partners, whether or not married and whether
or not living together. This includes same sex relationships.
People experience
domestic violence regardless of their social group, class, age, race, disability,
sexuality and lifestyle. It can happen in the home, or in a public setting.

If you need to get out immediately contact
the Housing
Options Centre, 0161 331 2700, who will be able to assist
with temporary accommodation and help assess your
choices.

If you are
not in immediate need for rehousing, but may
be in the future, keep these
things in a safe easily
accessible place:

driving licence, benefit books, or some other
form of ID
Change
of clothes for you (and children)
Plan
of where you can go.
Housing Associations play an important role in housing
people who have experienced domestic violence,
some of the housing options
available to the victim are:
Remaining in the home without the violent
partner;
Leaving the family home on a temporary basis; and/or
Leaving the
home permanently and seeking rehousing.
