New Charter + NC + is the umbrella organisation for all Tenants and Residents' Association across New Charter + estates. Who is the Federation? NC + Tenants' Federation is a Committee consisting of 10 Tenant Executive members. The group is an umbrella organisation, supporting Tenants' and Residents' Associations, Forum groups and individuals across New Charter estates. What does the Federation do and why? Like all Tenants and Resident Groups, the Federation abide by a Constitution, based on a model advised by Tenant Participation Advisory Service. It therefore adopts the same rules and conditions as the groups it represents. The group also works via a Code of Conduct. Federation Executive members are all
volunteers living on New Charter estates. Let them tell you why they've
got involved... We do this by working alongside outside agencies- such as - New Charter, Tameside Council and the Police by inviting them to speak and take questions at estate meetings and by ensuring tenants' and residents' views are accounted for. As an umbrella group we are involved in Policy and Procedures implementation. This ensures tenants are allowed to participate in and are consulted on all changes in Policy and Procedure. We also are consulted on working practices and have established a number of working groups, where we discuss both current and future repair issues, major improvement works and environmental issues." How can individuals and groups become involved? The Federation welcomes input from Tenants' and Residents' Associations, forums and individuals about the issues on their estates. The Federation is keen to take these to the relevant staff at New Charter and feedback answers to your group. It also encourages all individuals to attend Federation General Meetings, our AGM and relevant Repairs Maintenance and Investment (RMI) meetings personally. Meeting dates are available from the Federation secretary or the Tenant Participation Team at New Charter and are circulated to all member groups. All Tenant and Resident groups are eligible to become members of the Federation. This gives groups support , advice, knowledge and training events including seminars. The Federation is based in the resource room at Cavendish 249. This room is open to all recognised Tenant & Resident groups; the room has IT equipment for groups' use and a library will soon be available to groups and individuals. The booking of the room is by appointment. All appointments must be booked with the secretary of the Federation on 0161 331 2333. We encourage both groups and individuals to take advantage of this valuable resource. The Federation exists, like all
Tenants' and Residents' Associations, to ensure that those living on
New Charter estates are able to participate in the management of their
properties and the environment. How to contact us:
