Q1.
How to use the
search form:
A1. The
search form
has three drop-down
menu fields:
Town, bedrooms,
and property
type.
You can
select a
value from a
field and leave
the other two
at their 'default'
state, i.e.,
any choice;
or
you can try another
combination.
For example,
let's say you
are trying to
find 2-bed houses,
in any area,
that their current
occupiers
wish to exchange.
To do this search, leave
the 'Town' field as it
is, 'Any,' and then select
'2
Bedrooms'
and
'House' from
the other two fields.
The result of this
search will then
be displayed.
Q2.
I would like to modify
the search criteria,
how do I do that?
A2.
To change the search
criteria, simply
go back to the
Search page and
press the 'Reset.'
Then select a
different
combination and try again.
For example, you may find
that the number of records
from your first search in
Q1
too high. In this instance,
select a town that you would
like to move into.
So, if you select 'Denton'
then you will get a smaller
of records returned.
Q3.
What
happens if I do not
change the search
criteria?
A3.
You will then get
all the properties
available listed
for you.
As a rule of thumb,
it's better to start
off with a wider
choice and then narrow
it down than the
other way around;
unless you specifically
know what you are
after.
Q4. How
to use the 'Results'
page:
A4.
The Results page
is divided into three
sections:
a) at the
top it gives you
total number of records
found for that search
(in red) and then
a note saying what
record numbers are
being displayed on
that page. Remember
that each page holds
10 records by default.
So if you have more
than 10, then it
will be broken up
into required number
of pages.
b) then
there's the main
body of the results
page showing addresses
and a link for you
to click on to get
the details of a particular
property that you like {this
will take you onto the 'details'
page}; and
then there's
c) the bottom
bit showing what records
and some navigational links
for you to jump to a particular
page.
If none of the records displayed
are of interest to you, then
press the 'Search Again'
button to start all over
again.
Q5. The
'Details' page and
how to use it:
A5.
The 'Details' page
provides detailed
information about
the property that
you were interested
in.
Please remember that
you can only start
the exchange
process if you have
something to offer
that this particular
current occupier
wishes to exchange
to.
Q6. I
find it difficult
to use the 'Details'
page. What should
I do?
A6.
You will need to
contact the Housing
Management Officer
and/or go to one
of our shops to speak
to someone about
mutual exchanges.
Q7.
The info provided
on the 'Details
page is not what
I expected. How can
I find out more?
A7.
You will need to
contact someone as
in Q6.
Q8. Do
you have contact
details for other
organisations such
as 'HOMES?'
A8.
Yes, in the main
section of the Housing
Services area, from
the External Related
Links box,
'Please
that page.
Q9. How
do I use the 'Browse'
page?
A9.
The Browse page
is provided for you
so that all the properties
available for exchange
could be listed on
one page. You can
then use the sorting
arrows to 'sort'
the listing according
to your specific
criteria.
Q10. I
want to use the Help
page. How do I do
that?
A10.
To use the Help page
simply press on the
tab labelled 'Help.'
END.
