Q. How can I get involved at New Charter?

A. If you want to be part of a tenants association or form a new one, please contact our tenant participation team on 0161 331 2000. They will be able to offer you help, support and guidance on what to do next.

You can also look at our Housing Services' Get Involved section of this site.

Q. I would like to apply for housing with you.

A. You can pick up a housing application pack from any of our shops, the addresses of which you can find in our shops section. Alternatively, contact our lettings enquiries number 0161 331 2345 or email us here and we will send a pack to you.

Q. How long will I have to wait to get an offer of a home?

A. There is normally a one-month registration period before we actively consider an application. We can make exceptions in emergencies. The time depends on the type of home you need.

You can find further information on this in our 'Homes Available Now' section.

Q. I want to report a repair that needs doing. What do I do?

A. Contact our Repairs Centre on FREEPHONE
0800 027 0828 between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you can report a repair to us on this website by clicking on Reporting Repairs.

If your repair is a genuine emergency, phone
0161 342 2222
between 6.00 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. Monday to Friday and weekends. We aim to make safe all emergencies within 4 hours.

Q. I am interested in getting home contents insurance.

A. We provide a competitive policy in association with Norwich Union. To get a quote, ring us on 0161 331 2221. You can arrange to pay weekly and spread the payments out throughout the year with your rent.

Q. I'm finding it difficult to keep up with paying my rent. What should I do?

A. Contact us now, so your situation does not get serious. We deal with rent arrears in a firm but fair way. It may be that we can agree an arrangement to repay any arrears rather than all at once. You can call us on 0161 331 2215.

Q. I'm looking for a job. Where can I find details of your vacancies?

A. We advertise vacancies through the local Job Centres. We sometimes take advertising space in the jobs pages of local newspapers. You can find our current vacancies and download all details to apply on our website at Jobs.

Q. Do you have contact details for other organisations such as Tameside Council?

A. Yes, in the 'Links' section of our site.

Q. Who do I speak to if I am experiencing problems with neighbours?

A. If you are a New Charter Housing Trust Group tenant and you are having problems with neighbours, experiencing noise, racial harassment or any other anti-social behaviour issues, please contact your local housing officer. You can also report the details on our freephone confidential 24-hour answer phone service on 0800 027 0522.

Q. I want to make a complaint.

A. We have a leaflet and form to help you give us full details. You can pick one up from any of our shops. You can use our on-line form here.
