We are delighted to announce a major boost to our growth by adding 3,359
homes in the East Midlands.
All Gedling Borough Council’s housing
transferred at the beginning of November 2008 to Gedling Homes, a subsidiary
of New Charter. This followed a tenants’ ballot in favour, and
months of preparation and negotiation.
Just as importantly, we also welcome
76 employees who transfer over to run local housing services in north
Nottingham.
Adam Jacobs is Chair of the Board of Gedling Homes. He said: “The
hard work starts now. Tenants have placed a great deal of trust in us
and we will keep every promise that has been made. Work has already started
to plan the £41.9 million programme to repair and improve homes.
These are exciting times for all concerned.”
New Charter's role
now is to offer help and support as well as the Group’s financial
stability and central support services. Gedling Homes will be a strong,
locally focused organisation and we look forward to being part of its
growing success.
The transfer means the Group expands to 18,600 homes
and is an important step for our plan to grow to 30.000 homes in the
next five years.
